This year we have run our ewe lambs as tough as we ever have (except in a drought) in an attempt to actually slow their growth so that they don’t end up as big as adults.  Surprisingly they have still managed to put on 0.16 kg/day per day in the 10 weeks from scanning (muscle, fat and wt) on 30/12/15 through to weight on 10/03/2016. That’s roughly still 1.1 kg per week!

On average during this period (in the same groups/paddocks prior to scanning and subsequently) the white suffolk ewe lambs gained at 15% more than the poll dorset ewe lambs.
